Global Airlines Divert Routes as India-Pakistan Conflict Deepens

The aftermath of a brutal attack in Indian-administered Kashmir has sparked serious political and military friction between India and Pakistan, prompting airlines to reroute flights away from Pakistani airspace.
Air France suspended flights over Pakistan due to the "recent evolution of tensions," and adjusted flight schedules to ensure safety. Some flights are now taking significantly longer paths.
Lufthansa also halted travel over Pakistan. Other carriers, such as British Airways and Swiss International Air Lines, now take alternate paths to Delhi, avoiding potential danger zones.
The unrest began after 26 civilians were killed by militants in Pahalgam, Kashmir. India swiftly accused Pakistan, though the latter has rejected any responsibility for the attack.
Both sides shut down airspace to each other following the massacre, and hostilities have since grown, affecting not just regional airlines but also international flight patterns.
Military activity has increased: Pakistan launched two missile tests in three days, while India held national security drills and its navy executed test missile strikes to display readiness.
Calls for de-escalation from global powers have so far gone unheeded. UN chief Antonio Guterres warned that the current trajectory risks a military conflict that could spiral dangerously out of control.
