Russell Brand Enters Not Guilty Pleas on Sexual Offense Charges
British entertainer Russell Brand pleaded not guilty on Friday to charges including rape and sexual assault at Southwark Crown Court. The 49-year-old faces allegations involving four women between 1999 and 2005. Brand denies all accusations.
Brand appeared in court wearing a dark suit with an unbuttoned pinstripe shirt. He confirmed his identity and entered pleas of not guilty to five charges. The trial date is set for June 3, 2026. The case followed a joint media investigation.
The Metropolitan Police say the allegations include a 1999 rape in Bournemouth, 2001 indecent assault in Westminster, oral rape and sexual assault in 2004, and sexual assault between 2004 and 2005 in Westminster. The offenses span multiple years.
Brand’s career spans Hollywood films and hosting roles on UK TV and radio. He has recently focused on social commentary and conspiracy theory content on YouTube, where he has nearly 6.8 million subscribers.
The investigation was sparked by a joint report from The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4’s “Dispatches,” prompting police to launch an inquiry in late 2023.
This court appearance begins a significant legal battle. Brand denies all allegations and will face trial next year.
