Verstappen Shuts Down Exit Rumors Amid Red Bull Turmoil

Max Verstappen has firmly denied speculation that he is considering an early departure from Red Bull, despite recent turbulence within the team. Following a frustrating performance at the Bahrain Grand Prix where he finished sixth, the four-time Formula 1 world champion admitted dissatisfaction with this season’s car. Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s motorsport advisor, voiced concern that Verstappen might be tempted to leave due to the car’s current inability to compete consistently with front-runners.

Speaking ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Verstappen clarified that his focus remains solely on working with the team to improve the car’s performance. When asked about Marko’s remarks, Verstappen responded with uncertainty but emphasized his commitment to development: “I just keep working, keep trying to improve the car.” He acknowledged Bahrain was a disappointing weekend but reiterated the team’s effort to test new ideas and close the performance gap.

In a press conference exchange with Sky Sports, Verstappen brushed off continued questioning about his future with a sharp yet playful remark: “Just focus on commentating, I’ll focus on driving,” he said, accompanied by a smile. While the speculation persists, Verstappen seems unshaken, determined to move forward with the team and regain their edge.

Despite his Red Bull contract extending until 2028, Verstappen has been the subject of rumored interest from both Mercedes and Aston Martin over the past year. The Dutch driver is seeking his fifth consecutive world title, but Red Bull’s recent drop in form has raised eyebrows. The challenges the team faces seem to go beyond on-track struggles, feeding into the ongoing rumors.

Fueling the narrative of unrest, Verstappen recently admitted it was no accident he liked a social media post that criticized Red Bull’s controversial driver switch involving Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda. While many interpret this as a subtle dig at the team's internal decisions, Verstappen insisted he prefers to remain focused on racing rather than gossip. “A lot of people are talking about it except me,” he said. “I just want to focus on my car and the people I work with.”

Despite his inconsistent start to the season, Verstappen has still managed to secure two podiums – placing second in Australia and winning in Japan. These results prove that, while the car may be underperforming at times, the Dutch driver remains a formidable force behind the wheel. His ability to extract results despite adversity keeps Red Bull hopeful.

As the F1 season pushes forward into Saudi Arabia, Red Bull will be eager to bounce back and close the gap in the standings. Currently, both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri sit ahead of Verstappen in the driver rankings, adding even more pressure to perform. However, if Verstappen’s words are any indication, he's not thinking about leaving—he’s thinking about winning.
