Chris Brown Detained in UK Over Alleged Nightclub Assault from 2023

US singer Chris Brown was arrested early Thursday morning in Manchester, UK, in connection with an alleged attack at a London nightclub earlier this year. The incident reportedly involved a bottle assault on music producer Abe Diaw.

Police confirmed that the 36-year-old artist was taken into custody around 2 a.m. on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm during the incident. He remains held by the Metropolitan Police while the investigation continues.

The assault allegedly occurred on February 19, 2023, at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London. Detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit are leading the inquiry into the case.

The Sun newspaper reported learning of Brown’s arrival in the UK via private jet and alerted police, who then traveled to Manchester to arrest him at a hotel. Brown’s representatives have yet to comment on the matter.

Mr. Diaw told The Sun that Brown hit him over the head with a bottle before delivering further blows with punches and kicks while he was on the floor. The attack caused serious injury to Diaw’s knee.

Chris Brown rose to prominence two decades ago with hit songs such as “Beautiful People,” “No Air,” and “Run It.” Despite the arrest, he is currently touring the UK with shows scheduled through June and July.

The arrest adds to Brown’s history of legal troubles and raises questions about how the ongoing investigation might affect his music career and upcoming performances in the UK.
